Our Mission is to to preserve Ka’u’s rich cultural heritage, family traditions and social fabric of our rural community,
in perpetuity.

In Order To Preserve Our Hawaiian Culture
We Must Keep Hawaiians in Hawaii

Education

An advanced degree, certification or license from an accredited source will open up more employment opportunities for the people of Ka'u. We offer tuition assistance, in-person and online guidance counselors, tutors and mentors to help the residents of Ka'u complete their academic pursuits. In return, these students will return to Ka'u to live and work for an agreed upon time.

Training

From running a coffee farm in Ka'u to starting up an online technology firm, we offer online and in-person training programs to teach the necessary job skills and best practices. Additionally, Malama Ka'u Foundation has teamed up with several like-minded Fortune 500 companies to deliver a range of industry certifications and licenses.

Internships

Not all Ka'u residents want to work in information technology (IT) or any science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-related jobs. Therefore, we offer a range of paid internships from general construction to cybersecurity to engineering and installation with one of our for-profit 8(a) subsidiaries.

Jobs in Ka'u

Ka'u's high speed internet is ideal for online work. Global demand for IT talent has soared, resulting in high paying online jobs. Additionally, Ka'u's uninhabited coastline, abundant rain forests and active Kilauea volcano are remnants of Hawaii's past that will attract more visitors. We will provide the resources to ensure the local residents are able to capitalize on these opportunities.

Housing in Ka'u

Residents of Hawaii face the high housing costs in the nation resulting in more Hawaiians having to leave their ancestral home. There are currently more Hawaiians living on the mainland than in Hawaii. Malama Ka'u Foundation is committed to ensuring the life-long Ka'u residents remain in Ka'u.

Health Care in Ka'u

Although the largest district in the State of Hawaii (the entire island of Oahu easiliy fits in the district), Ka'u has a small hospital and a rural health clinic that provide limited emergency and acute care services. Malama Ka'u Foundation will provide Ka'u residents with access to other health care services not available in Ka'u, such as dialysis equipment.
